How would this soap opera made by Globo and Netflix be?
As I said earlier, it would be a super production of a great soap opera, and for that, Globo and Netflix will invest heavily. Each episode would cost around R$ 4.8 million to produce and the soap opera would have around 60 chapters in total. To give you an idea, this value is six times greater than what Globo invested for the production of a common episode.
So far none of the two companies has confirmed this union, but whoever gave this information was a reliable source, the on the small screen. Also according to Na Telinha, the union of Globo with Netflix for the production of this Super Soap opera would have a high investment. It would be 50 million dollars, which would give something around 288 million reais at the current price, it seems they are not kidding.
It is worth remembering that Netflix already has some Brazilian productions in its catalog, such as the recent success called “Invisible City”.
Would this soap opera be on Open TV?
As far as we know, Globoplay would have the rights to this soap opera here in Brazil, and Netflix in other countries of the world. Globoplay is a streaming application by Globo where for you to watch a soap opera or movie from the broadcaster whenever you want, it requires an investment.
With this, most likely, on open TV, only the trailer for this soap opera will be shown and to watch it, one would have to subscribe to Globoplay. Or else Rede Globo will only broadcast the first episode on open TV, as it has already done with some great series in its catalogue.
Netflix would have the international right to the profits made by this production, is there a big international success coming? Only time will tell. We don't know yet, but given the size of the investment, something very good must be coming, or at least we hope it is.
