According to the website The Wrap, specializing in entertainment news were submitted to the category of Best Animated Film 27 feature films, including 6 anime films, that is, Japanese animations. However, although their names were submitted, it does not mean that all of them will actually compete for the award.

Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train
Without a shadow of a doubt the biggest phenomenon of 2020 in terms of anime films! Repeating the great feat and hype generated by the anime, the Mugen Train Movie, which is a direct continuation of the animation, broke record after record, even achieving the enormous feat of overtaking the box office of Spirited Away!
Such success clearly made it one of the anime films submitted for the Oscar. For Demon Slayer: Mugen Train to completely surpass the big name studio Ghibli, its next hurdle is not only to be nominated for an Oscar, but also to win! Since Spirited Away was the first anime to win the category.
Lupine the Third: The First
This is certainly a film that will attract attention for those who followed the new hit series from Netflix, Lupine. And yes, they are both about the same topic, although approached in different ways... while in the Netflix series Lupine is a fictional character, in the animation he is real, but the main character is his grandson, although he has the same name .
It is the first film in the franchise made in CGI, it arrived in Japanese theaters in December 2019, and plans to reach Brazilian theaters, however due to the pandemic there were changes in plan, it came out on Streaming.
ON-GAKU: Our Sound
What if three delinquents decided to start a band, and none of them had ever played an instrument in their lives? That's the story told in this Oscar-nominated anime film. The anime based on the manga written by Hiroyuki Ohashi may surprise people with its very different design, given that all the names on the list have already been praised at least once for the quality of their productions. However, ON-GAKU is an independent animation. But let's also face it, this style of animation makes any comedy anime much funnier!
Aya to Majo
The first film made in CGI by the legendary and beloved Studio Ghibli! Directed by Hayao Miyazaki's son, and based on the book of the same name written by Diana Wynne Jones who also wrote another book that inspired a film by the studio, Howl's Moving Castle.
Still no prediction for her coming to Brazil, Aya to Majo, revolves around Aya (in Brazil Tesourinha), who lived in an orphanage and was adopted, but she discovers that she was adopted by a Witch... However, she wasn't scared like that like any other child would do, but decided to impose and show who is really in charge in that house.
Ride Your Wave
Among the anime films submitted for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature we also have Ride Your Wave. Which was one of the biggest surprises of 2019, even though it didn't achieve much success at the box office, it won a number of awards.
In this drama film (just the way the Japanese like it) we follow a young woman who loves surfing, and who moves to a coastal city in order to go to college and still be able to practice the sport she loves so much. But she ends up meeting a young firefighter who saves her from a fire in her apartment. Since this incident they began to get to know each other and develop a fondness... But if you talk too much, it's Sapoiler!
Cat eyes
Of all the movies on the list, the most accessible for us to watch (yes, it's on Netflix!). Cat's Eyes revolves around a sophomore in love with a classmate who never notices her. One day she discovers a mask that allows her to get closer to her loved one... But that same mask that can bring her closer to her loved one can also end up making her never be herself again.
