Well if you are a fan of Naruto then surely you have heard about Itachi Uchiha. He catches the attention of everyone in his Konoha village for being a prodigy of his clan. Still at the academy, even though he was very young, Itachi broke several records that until then were Minato's. In addition to being a great student, he was a great son and a great older brother to Sasuke.
As early as 7 years old, Itachi was already able to release his Sharingan, and even the high ranks recognized his genius. At the age of 13, Itachi was already the leader of an elite unit called the Anbu Special Hunters, which at the time was led by Danzou.

The Story of Itachi Uchiha
Itachi Uchiha was born close to the third ninja war and witnessed the loss of many people up close which emotionally traumatized him causing him to become a pacifist. Thanks to his genius and mastery over his Kekkei Genkai, at 8 years old Itachi already mastered the Sharingan. At the age of 10 he took the chunin exam and graduated with honors until he was drafted into the elite Anbu squad, in which he became leader at 13. And it was at this time that he fought alongside Kakashi Hatake.
Resentful of the third ninja war, Itachi didn't want his younger brother to suffer from what he went through in his childhood. Then he began to hear rumors that his clan intended to carry out a coup d'état, as a consequence he knew that it would result in a possible new ninja war and was tasked with spying on his clan.
In the meantime, he did not attend clan meetings and began to act suspiciously. The young Uchiha had a strong ideology about war, as mentioned above he was a pacifist. Also at that time Itachi was considered the biggest suspect in the murder of his best friend Shisui Uchiha, who actually drowned in the river. Because of these attitudes, the entire clan lost the hopes they had placed on Itachi.
Meanwhile the Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzou tried to put an end to the clan's hostilities in the most peaceful way in the world. Seeing that this would come to nothing, they then gave Itachi a mission to exterminate his entire clan.
Itachi's Dark Mission
And in that period of time Itachi met the supposed Madara who was trying to reignite the flames of the old Konoha war and the two then made a deal in exchange for never attacking Konoha again, Itachi accepted making the supposed Madara help him and so during the night he wiped out his entire clan. But, as they had agreed, he would spare Sasuke's life.
Even knowing his mission, and knowing all the pain and weight he would take with him, his parents told him that with all that they were still not very proud of their eldest son. Hearing that Itachi couldn't hold back tears, but he needed to do it for the greater good and his parents said they understood his reasons.
And still very young Sasuke witnessed all that horror scenario and the worst his older brother was responsible for all that. And with all this happening Sasuke managed for the first time to awaken his Sharingan in a futile attempt to attack him, which in turn launched a genjutsu that made him relive that entire holocaust.
At that moment Sasuke woke up in the hospital, and remembered only a good part of the conversation he had with his brother and then swore an oath that he would take revenge on him and that he would restore the honor of his clan. From that moment on Itachi was considered a traitor by the village, as they didn't know the real reason why he had done all that.
Knowing that Konoha also wanted to exterminate Sasuke, he made a request to the Third Hokage to spare his younger brother's life. And to ensure that this would happen, he threatened Danzou saying that he would reveal the village's secrets to the other enemies.
And that's when Itachi Uchiha joined akatsuki in order to spy on her from the inside. And that was another mission given by the third hokage to Itachi who was already considered an S rank missing-nin.
Your entry to Akatsuki
Itachi was sent to Akatsuki to closely monitor the movements of the supposed Madara, and it was at this time that Orochimaru tried to approach him to steal his Kekkei Genkai but, foreseeing this, put him in a genjutsu and as punishment cut his hand off causing Orochimaru run away from the organization.
It was then that Itachi partnered with Kisame Hoshigaki, but before that he tried to intimidate and ended up receiving threats. But after solving all that, they became great partners.
It was around this time that Itachi contracted an illness and began to live depending on a lot of medication and a lot of willpower in the hope of living long enough to die at Sasuke's hands. After the death of the Third Hokage, he decided to return to Konoha village alongside Kisame to go after Naruto.
Arriving at the village he comes face to face with Asuma Sarutobi and Kurenai are easily defeated by him, after that Kakashi also arrives who is also defeated and only after the arrival of Maito Gai do they decide to retreat.
It is true that he went after Naruto for the Kyuubi, but also his trip to Konoha was to remind the village elders that he was still alive and that they could not touch his younger brother's life. And he got his message.
One of the things that almost no one knows is how many men itachi died, and according to some records when he fought Sasuke he was only 21 years old. At the age of 17, he appeared in Konoha in search of Naruto.
In his fight against Sasuke, he had two intentions: the first was for Sasuke to be seen as a hero of the village and the second was for him to awaken his Mangekyou Sharingan which would later become very useful to him.
Itachi's death
Finally Sasuke had his battle against Itachi, before that he had instructed Kisame not to let Sasuke's teammates intervene in their battle. Then the two met at the Uchiha Fortress and a powerful genjutsu battle began.
Sasuke impressed his brother with his improvement and after breaking free of his Tsukuyomi the real ninjutsu battle would begin. He was responsible for removing the curse Orochimaru had placed on Sasuke.
In this battle we can see how powerful the two were because, even knowing that the difference in powers between the two was still great, Itachi achieved his goal. And in his last moments Itachi asked for forgiveness to Sasuke who was without reaction at the time.
After a while of his death Itachi was revived by Edo Tensei and once again even after his death he was considered a hero because he managed to free himself from Kabuto's control and saved Naruto and Killer Bee from Nagato's attacks.
