Sony, as promised (Playstation 5 – Information will be revealed Tomorrow!) released on Wednesday 18 the specifications of the Playstation 5, the company's next generation console. After a very, very secret, after all, practically nothing was known about the console, a lot of mystery surrounded the playstation 5, and a short time before its launch, which is scheduled to take place before the holidays, not even the appearance of the console it was public knowledge. Mark Cerny, the Playstation 5 architect who presented revealed the console's specs. And first Cerny reveals that the Ps5 will have a customizable storage of up to 825 GB of SSD, promising an absurdly higher speed of transfer and boot, compared to the HD used in its predecessor the PS4. Not being new to anyone, anyone who has already migrated from HD to SSD recognizes the absurd difference between them.
The system will feature an AMD processor that offers up to 3.5 GHz using Zen 2 technology. Its GPU will feature 10.28 Teraflops, at 2.23 GHz. Lagging behind its biggest competitor, the XBox Series from Microsoft that will have 12 Teraflops. However, Cerny guarantees that fewer flops do not mean that the console's graphics capacity will lag behind its competitor, as a video card is much more than flops.
The Playstation 5 Specifications released are:
- Processor: x86-64-AMD Ryzen “Zen 2” x 8 with variable frequency up to 3.5 GHz;
- GPU: 10.28 teraflops, 36 CUs with 2.23 GHz with variable frequency up to 2.23 GHz, with RDNA 2 architecture;
- System Memory: GDDR6 16 GB;
- SSD: 825GB / 5.5GB/s read bandwidth (Raw);
- PS5 Game Disc: ultra HD Blu-ray, with disc storage of up to 100 GB;
- Video Output: support 120Hz 4K TVs, 8K TVs;
- ray tracing: Yea!;
According to Cerny almost all of the top 100 most played PS4 games will be playable on PS5, confirming Backward Compatibility. It also confirmed the presence of technology ray tracing, which will guarantee greater realism for games. According to the Playstation agency, the Coronavirus outbreak around the world will not affect the distribution or launch date of the console. This date is not public knowledge, the only thing we know is that it is expected to arrive before the end of year festivities. Although much information has been released, one of the great mysteries surrounding the console remains, its appearance, no mention or image has been made available.
