Facebook recently announced that it will reduce political posts in Brazil and in some other countries in the world in order to avoid controversy. That's because the Social Network has been accused of several things at all times, including helping in "fights" involving political issues.
We all know that when it comes to politics and religion, at any time a discussion can happen between people with different thoughts. And this happens quite often on the Social Network, especially when a country is close to holding presidential elections or some other office.
Remember I said that Facebook will reduce policy posts and in some countries in order to reduce controversy? The other countries are Indonesia and Canada, the US is also included in the package but will start next week.
For starters only a small percentage of users from selected countries will participate in this change, which is actually in Beta mode. The focus, in addition to reducing the polarization that has been happening, is also to find a balance in the content that users see.
Users Will Give Their Opinion About Politics Posts in Brazil
The people selected to be part of this test will be able to give their opinion about this change that is happening. After a few days, Facebook will ask its users what they think about the reductions in political posts on the platform. And as soon as the tests are advanced, the Social Network will disclose the results and everything that is promising in this experiment.
As far as we know, several factors are being taken into account for some countries to be tested by Facebook, such as the controversies that happen in the elections. Brazil, for example, fits into several of these factors, so Facebook will start reducing political posts in the country. And one of those points resulting in the reduction of these types of content on the platform is the excess sharing of fake news.
In the US, which will begin testing next week, about 6% of the posts that are posted on the Social Network are from Politics.

Is this attitude a good one?
If political posts stop for all people regardless of ideology, I believe it will be a really good one. But if the posts stop only for those people who have an x placement, that would be kind of a censorship.
If the Social Network is no longer polarized, imagine something like this happening, it could end up worsening the situation once and for all. There are several means of communication on the internet other than Facebook, and a Social Network of X positioning may end up appearing and creating another bubble.
