Horimiya sets new record on MyAnimelist
Since the airing of the first episode of Horimiya (Saturday), about 69,088 users on the anime listing website MyAnimeList registered as “watching” the anime on their accounts. That is, apparently breaking the record for the most watched debut of a romantic comedy debut among users of the site. Also, the record was previously held by Rent-A-Girlfriend! With around 55,228 viewers registered in seven days of its premiere.
But this is perhaps less surprising when you consider that HERO and Daisuke Hagiwara's Horimiya manga is currently ranked 13th in popularity on MyAnimeList. It has 121,623 registered users as reading the manga at the time of writing.
The final numbers of Horimiya's premiere will be counted after another five days, so the series still has time to compete for the biggest premiere of all romantic comedy anime (including sequels). That record is currently held by Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2! It had 82,808 users “watching” after seven days.
