Crunchyroll confirmed through its website that the Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari anime is having its second season in production. As if the news of Season 2 production wasn't good enough... It's also been revealed that just as Season 2 is in production, so is Season 3!
The production of these seasons had already been announced even last year. However, only now came the confirmation from Crunchyroll itself that seasons 2 and 3 of Tate no Yuusha are in production. Although the progress of production has been confirmed, these seasons still do not have a scheduled release date, most likely it will only occur next year (2021).
About Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari…
The anime about a wronged hero and bearer of a legendary weapon that is a big shield and that also makes him very big. Tate no Yuusha aired in early 2019, being produced by the studio Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss studio) and had the participation of Crunchyroll in its production. The anime in its first season gained 25 episodes, starting airing on January 9 and ending on June 26, 2019. Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari was based on the light novel of the same name written by Aneko Yusagi and illustrated by Minami Seira, dealing with the classic Isekai theme.
The story revolves around Naofumi Iwatani, who is suddenly sent/called to another world, and discovers that he is a "legendary hero". Along with Naofumi, 3 other heroes were summoned from Japan as well, but from other realities. Thus composing the 4 heroes who will save that world. The 4 heroes have legendary weapons, a sword, a bow, a spear and Naofumi receives a shield, considered by everyone to be the weapon and thus the weakest hero, but not everything is what it seems.
Right at the beginning of the plot, Naofumi is betrayed, and then sets out on a solitary journey with just his shield to carry out his role, save the world and then return to his universe. The plot, as the name suggests, Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (The Rise of the Shield Hero) revolves around the path taken by the hero to grow and achieve his goal.
