WandaVision is an undisputed worldwide phenomenon! The series focused on the avengers couple Wanda Maximoff and the Sintozoid Visão responsible for opening the MCU's phase 4 won the hearts of everyone, including those who didn't like the first two episodes made in Sitcom format. In its sixth episode the series has become the most searched All the world, according to a survey carried out by a website specialized in the subject.
A good part of those researched related to the series was about her plot, after all, how did it all get to that point? All the mysteries were revealed in the final episodes, but at the beginning only more and more questions came up. Among them, who or what caused the events of the series?
This question then caused several theories to emerge on social networks, forums and Youtube channels. With most of them pointing to an individual very close to Wanda in the comics, Mephisto! Others even raised names like the villain Nightmare. But in the final episodes it is revealed to us that there was no great villain controlled all from behind the scenes.
Why Mephisto Didn't Show His Face in WandaVision
The Villain's participation was speculated since its debut, because of its premise addressed and what appeared in the trailers to promote the series. The absence of a major villain, more precisely Mephisto, frustrated some fans. So much so that the producer announced a few days before the final episodes aired, that the series finale would probably disappoint some people due to all the expectations created, and theories.
In an interview for the American website Deadline, the creator and screenwriter of WandaVision Jac Schaeffer revealed the real reason for the villain's absence. Check the statement:
We didn't think the show needed a great villain. I mean, the villain is grief, that's the story we were telling – and, as a bonus, we got a bad one in the form of Agatha Harkness, who ended up facilitating Wanda's therapy. I'm quite satisfied with it.
WandaVision follows Wanda and Vision in the post-Avengers Endgame events. Being the first production that is part of the MCU, but that was not made in the film format and also responsible for opening phase 4.
