We can say that without Akatsuki Naruto Shippuden would be a totally different anime! The group of renegade ninjas that appeared in Naruto (classic) was a fundamental piece in the story and continuation of the anime.
Recognizing a ninja that belongs to the group is a simple task, apart from the epic and sinister soundtrack, they are easily identified thanks to their bandanas with the symbol of the village crossed out, the rings and your cloak. The Akatsuki Cloud
only 2 members, among the whole group both understand the real meaning for the red clouds stamped on the organization's mantle, and have it as something special. These 2 members are Konan and Nagato (Pain), who are the founding members of Akatsuki.
The red of the Akatsuki cloud represents the bloodshed in wars. To be more direct the war that took place in the Village Hidden in Rain. This is directly linked to the origin of the group.
The Origin of Akatsuki
As stated earlier, Akatsuki was created by Konan and Nagato, but there was also a third founding member, Yahiko, both orphans of the War that took place in the Village Hidden in Rain between various nations.
After the training that these 3, now ninjas, received from Jiraya one of the 3 legendary sanins of the village of Folha. They formed a group, under the leadership of Yahiko, this group already called Akatsuki gathered several ninjas from the Hidden Rain Village who wanted peace, and the end of the third great Ninja War.
In its origin and foundations, Akatsuki's quest sought peace, so much so that the word Akatsuki means dawn, dawn. Referring to the end of peace, and the beginning of a new world of peace. However, as you can see above, Akatsuki's first "uniform" did not contain the famous red clouds, they gained that color with the loss of one of the founding members.
Yahiko's Death and Origin of Akatsuki We Know
Akatsuki grew and began to become a big problem for the leader of the Village Hidden in Rain, Hanzo, set up an ambush that ended up culminating in Yahiko's death. From then on, Nagato, wielder of the Rinnegan, "freaks out", kills Hanzo and adopts other means to achieve the organization's goals.
Thus, Akatsuki becomes a criminal organization, composed of renegade ninjas, with the aim of capturing all 9 existing bijuu, and using their power to create a world of peace, the basis of strength.
This "new" Akatsuki, with a different and extremist approach to achieving its goal, then adopts the uniform with the red clouds, the Akatsuki Cloud. The Akatsuki Cloud became so popular with fans, that several products appeared with them printed, becoming a sales success, even winning a collection of flip-flops at Havaianas!
