Ubisoft will team up with Netflix to produce a live action Assassin's Creed series! Production would already be in its initial stages of production.
An Assassin's Creed series is already in production on Netflix, the announcement was made through twitter and took a lot of people by surprise! The announcement was made with a small teaser of the work, check it out:
However, although it has announced that the series based on the universe created by Ubisoft is already in its initial development... Nothing more has been revealed about it, such as cast, premiere forecast, etc. But something interesting was revealed, the participation of Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik, gives Ubisoft who will be executive producers of the work. Which might be good news for those who are worried that the "netflix version" meme will happen again. With the participation of Jason and Danielle, we can expect something more faithful to the original works.
- Resident Evil series in development at Netflix
- Monster Hunter movie has its first trailer released
- One Piece arrives on netflix making success!
But the deal between Netflix and Ubisoft wouldn't just refer to creating an Assassin's Creed series, the deal would also involve creating other projects involving that universe. In addition to the series, Netflix may also produce an animated series, and an anime.
Peter Friedlander, who is the platform's president of original series, commits to "create epic and exciting entertainment and provide a bigger dive for fans“.
Assassin's Creed is one of the most successful franchises in gaming, but this is not the first time its universe has been explored outside of gaming. The Franchise won a live-action film in 2017 produced by Fox, starring Michael Fassbender.
Game Based Works
Netflix has been investing more and more in works based on Games, especially after the resounding success of The Witcher, which has become one of the biggest hits on the platform. As well as the series based on Assassin's Creed, Netflix is also producing a series based on Resident Evil.
But according to GameSpot, Netflix wouldn't have just acquired the rights to Assassin's Creed. But also from other Ubisoft properties, such as Beyond Good & Evil and Skull & Bones.
Anyway, what do you think this partnership between the two companies can result in? It is undeniable how rich the Assassin's Creed universe is, but will Netflix be able to reproduce the feat with The Witcher again? Or will you just get one more adaptation to become a meme? Comment!
