Days 2 and 3 – Observation of the Planet Venus
At the beginning of April, our sky will be brighter than usual. The artonomic events that will take place in April will start with the possibility of a beautiful observation of the Planet Venus. It turns out that during the first days of April, the planet will have a brighter than normal, in addition the planet will be visible for a longer time in the sky.
Information and Curiosities about Venus
Popularly known here as Dalva star and/or Morning Star thanks to its brightness that reaches its peak near dawn, and at sunset. Its brightness is the strongest to be observed in the sky if both the Sun and the Moon are disregarded. It was named after the Roman goddess of beauty and love, Venus. Its brightness is visible to the naked eye on Earth thanks also to its proximity, with Venus being the planet in the solar system closest to us. It is the “different” planet, after all, although all the other planets in the solar system rotate in the same direction, Venus rotates in the opposite direction.
Days 7 and 8 – Supermoon (biggest of the year!)
Supermoons as well as eclipses are perhaps the best known astronomical events, and in April we will be able to witness the biggest Supermoon of the year out of a total of four that will light up the night sky during the year. Supermoon is an astronomical event that occurs when our natural satellite, the Moon, approaches its “perigee” which is nothing more than the moment when a star is closest to the body in which it orbits. That is, the Supermoon, or Super Full Moon, as it is also known, is the moment when the moon is closest to the planet throughout its orbit.
During the course of the year, we will still be able (if the clouds allow) to witness the Supermoon three more times. More precisely on May 7th, October 16th and also on November 15th.
Days 22 and 23 – Meteor shower
And last but not least! The last of the Astronomical Events that will take place in April will be a meteor shower. This is an annual event, as this meteor shower occurs every year during the month of April. This is the Meteor Shower called lyrids, which occurs every year between the 15th and 25th of April, with greater intensity between the 22nd and 23rd.
The rain occurs mainly due to the release of rocks and dust from Comet Thatcher as it passes through the solar system. Its name comes from the region where it can be observed, being visible near the constellation of Lyra in the northern hemisphere. Due to light pollution in cities, observation may be difficult, perhaps requiring the use of equipment.
