Hereditary
To open up a list of the best horror movies from prime video, nothing better than a recent movie that delivers what it promises! I'm talking about hereditary (Hereditary), released in 2018 with a screenplay and direction by Ari Aster. Not sure if the movie liked it or not? Well IMDB helps, the movie has a rating on the platform 7,3/10!
Synopsis: With the death of Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, her family in particular that of her daughter begins to discover increasingly terrifying secrets about her ancestors. The more they discover about the past, the more they try to rid themselves of the terrible and unfortunate fate they inherited.

Midsommar: Evil Does Not Wait for the Night
Another work by Ari Aster, proving that the writer and director really has a knack for the genre. Released in 2019 Midsommar, although also highly praised, has a lower IMDB rating than its predecessor, but still remains a high note for a film of the genre, with 7,1/10!
Synopsis: A young American couple, after a family tragedy, decides to join friends in a summer festival in a Swedish village. However, what was supposed to be a "mental relief" turns into something macabre, and sinister when friends are invited to participate in the disturbing festivities.

The name is not short, but so is the film, with only 1 hour and 27 minutes, the director Darren Aronofsky it is able to show us that we don't need supernatural elements or things that are beyond human understanding to scare and terrify us. And yes, our own mind is capable of doing this, and the world around us. PI is for those looking for an escape from the same, a horror film although recent (1998) made entirely in black and white that gives a special touch to the feature.
Synopsis: Max the protagonist is an expert math genius, so much so that he was able to build a supercomputer that provides the key to understanding all of existence. Such a feat has aroused the interest of representatives of a Hasidic kabbalistic sect and a powerful Wall Street firm.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
Among Prime Video's Best Horror Films, one could not miss one with a more teenage feel, as with the most recent by IT, which were a complete success both at the box office, audience and critical acceptance. But why a teenage footprint? Well due to the fact that like IT, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is based on a popular 1980s children's book in the US. Launched in 2019, the use is very recent you can prepare for good scares, quality will not be lacking and it is an “old school” horror movie, in the classic haunting model.
Synopsis: Sara Bellows is a young woman with horrible secrets, who decided to turn her life into a book series with macabre stories. However, the events of the books begin to come true for a group of teenagers who discovered the book decades after it was written and decided to investigate Sara's life.

And to close with a flourish the list of the best horror movies on Amazon Prime Video, nothing better than closing one that already has “Halloween” in its name. Even though it is a franchise, even almost complete on Prime Video, here I will refer to the one released in 2018. Halloween (2018) is the thirteenth film in the franchise, which bears the same name. Although we have suggested this movie in particular, it is worth taking some time to marathon this entire franchise.
Synopsis: The Film depicts a continuation after 40 years of the original film, where again Laurie Strode will need to face the masked killer on a Halloween night.
