The Last of Us part 2 produced by Sony and Naughty Dog as a PS4 exclusive, was named Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2020! But not only did it take the main award category, it also broke awards records, check it out!
The Game Awards, which is the biggest award in the entire gaming industry, had its 2020 edition held this Thursday the 10th. The event was held in Los Angeles in the United States, which is considered the Oscar of games, was broadcast online on the main platforms, Youtube, twitter, Twitch and not Facebook. And one of the favorite games to take the award for best game, The Last of Us part 2, demonstrated that all expectations were justified.

The Last of Us Part 2 makes history
But the game not only took home the much-desired best of the year award, it also took home 6 other categories! A total of 7 categories won by the Sony exclusive, setting a new record at the ceremony as the game to win the most categories. The Last of Us sequel took home the following categories: Best Game of the Year, Acting, Directing, Sound Design, Narrative, Innovation in Accessibility, Action Adventure Game.
In addition to entering a new record in the awards, the game will pose a major obstacle for future competitors to pass that mark. That's because, the edition held in 2020 was the seventh in the history of the awards, and in the six previous editions, the highest mark achieved was 4 awards. The games that had this mark of 4 awards each were: Disco Elysium, Overwatch and Red Dead Redemption 2.
However, a strong name to reach or even pass the mark of The Last of Us pt 2 is Cyberpunk 2077. The game was left out of the awards, because of the several delays that pushed the game's launch to December 10th.
