Without a doubt, one of the greatest allies that we currently have to help pass the time are the movies. At a time when it is not recommended to stay close to the people we love, and with that a good part of our leisure time is compromised. But it's a good thing we live in a time when technology is able to provide us with amenities. After all, we no longer need to go to a video store to buy a movie and watch it at home.
This practice of watching films at home, depending only on the internet connection popularized by Netflix, grew exponentially during this century. But mainly from 2020 onwards thanks to the pandemic. However, even though we have several options besides Netflix, for some people this practice does not replace the emotion of watching a film at the cinema.
Thinking exactly about these people, in addition to, of course, the loss of releasing a film with cinemas around the world closed, and the recording of films compromised to guarantee the safety of crews and actors.. Godzilla vs. Kong (April 1)
The clash of the century? Without a doubt one of the most awaited movies of all 2021! Since the great clash between the two great monsters of American and Japanese cinema was announced. After all, who doesn't want to see two giant monsters kicking ass? Especially with decent technology, no rough effects. What makes us expect something of quality is exactly the films that preceded, and paved the way for this confrontation to happen, Godzilla (2014), Kong on Skull Island (2017) and Godzilla King of the Monsters (2019).
With each trailer released about the film, the desire to see it grows even more, part of this great expectation and desire for the film is thanks to the internet. Since the release of the first teaser, the confrontation between the 2 monsters has taken over the internet, becoming one of the most talked about and researched subjects, memes, theories, even organized fans! After all, are you Team Kong or Zilla? Something of this magnitude hasn't been seen since the release of Civil War, with Team Cap and Iron Man.
But after so much waiting, on April 1 Godzilla x Kong will be released simultaneously, in theaters and on HBO Max after being anticipated by 5 days – Godzilla vs Kong: Clash of Giants is anticipated!.

Mortal Kombat (April 16)
When it comes to the most anticipated movies of 2021, Mortal Kombat cannot be left out of the list. But unlike most of the movies listed here, Mortal Kombat wasn't all that awaited… until its trailer was released, driving the internet crazy! Without a doubt, this movie has everything to become one of the best game adaptations!
Apparently, the film will have everything fans of the Mortal Kombat franchise like, lots of blood, beatings and faithfulness to the story behind the games. What many may not imagine, after all it is a fighting game, which comes from the time of Arcades. But Mortal Kombat has a complex and engaging story, really worthy of receiving a good adaptation of the big screen! Like Godzilla x Kong, Mortal Kombat will arrive simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max on April 16th.
Fast and Furious 9 (May 27)
One of the biggest franchises in cinema today, with 8 movies already released, one on the way and I believe it's not expected to end anytime soon! Although some believe that it has already happened, that there have already been more films than it deserved, the escape from the central theme of illegal street races… But whenever a new film is announced, it manages to move millions to movie theaters.
Fast and Furious 9 is one of the releases that were affected in 2020, becoming one of the most awaited of 2021. What will Fast and Furious awaits us, after all, the franchise is always surprising us, with scenes that make us lose our breath and completely challenging the laws of physics.
Jokes aside, this is the second film in the new trilogy (8,9 and 10), the tenth already had its release scheduled for 2022, but with the release of the 9 affected, it remains to be seen now if the change in the date of the 9 will affect also the schedule for 10. It also remains to find out whether or not this is the last saga of the Fast and the Furious, or if the producer will bet on the more the better, as done with Star Wars.

Black Widow (July 9)
Without a doubt, Black Widow was one of the most awaited films of 2020, but due to all the postponements, it ended up staying for 2021. It is one of the films most affected by the Pandemic, with its release scheduled for April 30, on height of the pandemic, where all cinemas in the world were closed, or closing. There were several delays, which makes us unsure whether the launch will happen even on April 29th or not.
Black Widow is not one of the most anticipated film releases of 2021 for nothing. The great hype created for any news related to the Marvel cinematic universe is undeniable, a complete worldwide phenomenon! Not to mention that maybe we can finally find out, what really happened in Budapest! Something that practically every time Natasha (Black Widow) and Clinton Barton (Hawkeye) met was mentioned, but always without details, leaving the public curious about it.
The first, and most likely only, film about Natasha can serve not only as an opportunity to delve into the history and development of the character, but also to introduce new characters, and explain some events from the past. It may even be a last opportunity to see both Black Widow and Iron Man on screen, since they both died in Avengers: Endgame.
The release of the Black Widow movie was scheduled for April 29, but was delayed (again) by about 2 months, arriving simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ on July 9th!

Space Jam 2 (July 15th)
There are so many movie releases in 2021, what makes Space Jam 2 so highly anticipated? Simple, the fact that I have waited 25 years to watch the sequel to the movie released in the 90s! Certainly Space Jam is a part of your childhood, the movie from which basketball legend Michael Jordan along with Looney Tunes bigwigs join a never-before-imagined basketball team to defend Earth from an Alien invasion!
However, this time the feature will feature another basketball legend, LeBron James! In the feature, he and his son (fictional) who has enormous talent for programming are kidnapped by a company, and taken to Warner's servers, where LeBron will find the Looney characters forgotten and hidden. They will form a basketball team so unlike in the first movie that fate was Earth, this time it will be to save their son.
Without a doubt, an excellent movie to beat that nostalgia and remember the good old days, Space Jam 2 arrives July 25th in theaters and on HBO Max.

Suicide Squad 2 (August 5)
The first Suicide Squad movie is one of the movies that Warners certainly wants to forget, along with Justice League (2017). So why is Suicide Squad 2 one of the most anticipated releases of 2021? There are several reasons why it is so highly anticipated. Among the main ones is its direction, which was with James Gun, responsible for the phenomenon of Guardians of the Galaxy. The director has experience in bringing little-known characters to the screen and making them phenomenal.
Another big reason is that he had creative freedom, without interference from Warner! This statement was made by the director himself, which gives us a relief, after all when the producer is on top of a project because of the history, things don't go very well... behind the scenes revealed during DC Fandome, the accounts of the actors, and professionals involved in the production, the praise made to James Gun, makes fans expect something totally different from the previous one.

Hotel Transylvania 4 (5th of August)
In Hotel Transylvania we have united various elements of culture in the best and funniest way possible. From the classic Dracula, Frankenstein, to mummies and werewolves. The franchise created by Sony Pictures shows us a new look at monsters and their society created in parallel with human society. And it worked very well, pleasing not only the children but also the adult audience. Proof that it worked is that the franchise started in 2011 is already reaching its fourth film!
While movie 1 dealt with the difference between the societies of Monsters and Humans who lived side by side, but separated, being changed thanks to a human, who fell in love with Dracula's daughter. Its sequel focuses on Dracula with a grandson, training him to show his vampire side while his parents are on vacation. In Hotel Transylvania 3, all the main characters of the work go on vacation, to take Dracula away a little from his service taking care of the Hotel, on this trip Dracula falls in love after years since he lost Mavis' mother.
But what awaits us in the next film? It's still a Sony secret, with the movie's release scheduled for August 5th, we'll soon have some Teaser/Trailer Released with more details.
Shang-Chi (September 3)
With the phenomenon of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) everything related to it is highly anticipated, which makes Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings one of the most anticipated Movie Releases of 2021. We will experience a whole new experience. with Shang-Chi, a new Hero who will be introduced into the shared universe of Marvel films, opening up even more opportunities for new films.
For fans of fight movies, the wait is even longer, after all we will see in the cinema a representation of an athlete at his maximum capacity! Shang-Chi is one of the greatest martial artists in all of Marvel! Without any superhuman powers, only with his dedication and Martial skill, he has already defeated several Superhuman opponents.
Although there is still not much information about the plot of the film, the expectation is high, especially to see him going down with well-rehearsed choreography in the way that Marvel usually doesn't disappoint us! Unfortunately we don't have any trailers or teasers yet.
Resident Evil (September 3)
2021 is the year for great franchises to receive sequels, but in the case of Resident Evil, it's a new chance! While several franchises will receive a continuation, even after decades, as in the case of Space Jam, Resident Evil will get a reboot in theaters. With a release date of September 3 – Resident Evil Reboot Hits Theaters in September!.
The previous films divide opinions, as much as they have their merits, they failed to completely please the fan base. This is because of several changes in the script, which meant that the story was not faithfully adapted as in the games. And with the promise that this reboot will more closely follow the history of games, that's why fans are optimistic about this movie, making it one of the most anticipated movies of 2021.
The Boss Baby 2 – Family Business (September 16)
Among the most anticipated movie releases for 2021, and one more of the sequels we have a slightly unlikely one, that of The Boss Baby! The first film was released in 2017, and it didn't end with an open ending for a possible sequel. Which made it not to be expected. But the franchise received a series on netflix which already has 4 seasons! The success of the work on the platform may have been what made Universal want to make a sequel.
In the sequel, called Family Business, Tim and his little brother Boss Baby Ted have already become adults, and ended up moving away from each other, but in a reunion of the 2 brothers, they discover that Tim's daughter is a super secret agent of the Baby Corp. And that Baby Corp has developed a potion that can regress an adult into a baby for 48 hours. With this potion, she, along with her father and uncle, will face a "villain" who is teaching children to be evil.
The Boss Baby 2: Family Business was previously scheduled for a March 26 release date, but was pushed back to September 16 by Universal and DreamWorks. Watch the Trailer here.
Dune (September 16th)
One of the films, perhaps the most awaited of 2021 is undoubtedly Duna! Based on one of the best-selling and well-known science fiction books, written by Frank Herbert. Due to the complexity of the work, the film was considered impossible to adapt in theaters. The film came to win a version in theaters in 1984 but it was a real failure. Disappointing both fans and critics.
However, with the advancement of technology, this remake is stirring the hearts of fans, leaving them very optimistic for this new adaptation. Another piece of news that reinforces this optimism is the fact that director Denis Villeneuve, who in addition to being an established director in the science fiction genre, has directed films such as Arrival (2015). Denis has already stated “one of my long-standing dreams is to adapt the dune“".

Venom 2: Time for Carnage (September 17)
The movie Venom: Time for Carnage is the direct continuation of the film released in 2018. Although it divides the opinions of critics, it almost unanimously managed to admire the fans. Even though it's a character from the Spider-Man universe, in a movie where they're not even mentioned. However, Sony still managed to deliver an excellent character origin movie.
One of the main facts of the film being one of the most anticipated releases of the year is already present in the film's title, Carnage! One of the most psychopathic Spider-Man villains in the entire Marvel comics universe! He had a brief participation in the film released in 2018, in the post credits scenes, preparing us for the sequel.
Sony has been developing characters from the Spider-Man universe in theaters to which it owns the broadcasting rights, starting with Venom, then Morbius would be released, but which was postponed to 2022 due to the pandemic, and not to have much competition. in theaters with Venom 2 itself. Films based on the webhead's universe already attract the public's attention to nature, after all it is one of the most popular heroes in the world. The Eternals (October 28)
Among the most anticipated movie releases of 2021, Marvel's Eternals can't be missed! Especially after all the damage Thanos has done to the MCU, a movie in which his participation is certain, even if it's just his origin, will be highly anticipated! – Marvel Reveals That The Eternals Movie Will Link With The Avengers.
The film will portray the Eternals, an ancient race that has great participation in the history of humanity, being often considered and portrayed as gods. The film is one of the most anticipated of the entire phase 4 of the MCU, considered by Kevin Feige, the boss of Marvel in cinemas, as one of the best films he has ever seen. How can you not look forward to this movie?
But unfortunately, although we can expect a lot from the film, and guess what will be portrayed, we can't say for sure. Details regarding the plot have not been revealed, and we have not yet had any Teaser available. The Eternals hits theaters October 28!
Ghostbusters – Beyond (November 11)
Ghostbusters is a movie classic, which makes any material about it much talked about and awaited. But not always for good reason, many fans believe that it is much better to leave a work as it is, than to keep insisting and making bad content.
However, this new Ghostbusters movie, different from the one released in 2016, butchered by fans, this is a direct sequel to the films released in 1984 and 1989. Disregarding the existence of the 2016 film, Ghostbusters Beyond is set in a world where ghosts haven't appeared in decades. But that could change, when children, descendants of the original Ghostbusters, find the equipment used in their hunting days.

Mission Impossible 7 (November 18)
Spy movies are one of the most popular genres. When well produced, then yes, the more the better. Proof of this is 007 and Mission Impossible, each with more than 6 films over the years. While 007 is the most famous, profitable and consecrated saga about espionage in cinemas... Mission Impossible, as the title already delivers, is responsible for taking our breath away with increasingly complicated missions, and literally impossible!
A big secret to the popularity that has yielded the franchise 7 movies and having an 8 already scheduled, is perhaps due to Tom Cruise's devotion to the character. The actor does not use dubs for his scenes, he records all of them himself, even the one where he climbed the tallest building in Dubai, and the scene in which he stands outside a plane in full flight.
Mission: Impossible 7 is scheduled to hit theaters on November 18th. Unfortunately, no trailer has been released yet.
Spider-Man 3: No Way Home (December 16)
Without a doubt, the most awaited movie of 2021! At least for me… What makes this the most awaited of 2021 among so many movie releases? As mentioned in the area dedicated to Venom, everything related to Spider-Man already has a great deal of movement. But this time it is bigger because of rumors that indicate that in this movie, we will have the participation of all the Spider-Men in theaters!
There's no way not to be anxious with a possibility of this happening, even if it's minimal! After all, the entire Internet may have fallen into a click bait, but there is a possibility it may not, and without a doubt that possibility, even if it is low, is already worth the movie's ticket. In case the crossover happens, many consider that it will rock theaters more than Avengers: Endgame!
Anyway, we don't have any trailer yet about the film, or details involving the plot… Just the title that we recently revealed, No Way Home! How will Spider-Man deal with having his identity revealed to the whole world?

King's Man 3 (December 22)
Another recent franchise that fell in love was King's Man. The franchise began in 2014 and won a sequel in 2017, now it will win a third film, aimed at exploring the origins of the spy organization King's Man. The films in this franchise manage to masterfully mix comedy elements with high-level espionage, and very well choreographed scenes. The quality featured in previous films promises to be taken to a new level as you explore the origins of the secret agent service, and the event involved in its creation!
King's Man: Inception was scheduled to release on March 11, 2021, but it was delayed and will now hit theaters on August 19. Recently postponed again, as Disney acquired the studios of Centure 20th, by changing the release date of Black Widow, it also changed from other films so there is no internal competition. The new date for King's Man is December 22nd.

Matrix 4 (December 23)
And to close with a flourish both the list and the films of the year we will have Matrix 4! One of the most beloved franchises for moviegoers and one of the most important in cinema. After all, the release of The Matrix in theaters revolutionized the way movies were made. Both with innovation in technologies and in the plot, and visual elements.
Matrix 4 brings back Keanu Reeves as Neo, and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity! But what really raises curiosity about the film is the fact that according to Keanu, the film is not set in the past! The end of the trilogy left Neo in a very bad situation, according to the actor's own words.
Anyway, we will find out how this return of The Matrix will be, and if it will compensate for all the hype raised by its announcement.
