Xbox and 343 Industries today revealed a bunch of new details about the Halo Infinite campaign. While it's known that Halo Infinite won't feature co-op at launch, it will still have the campaign, and today's reveals are the biggest piece of information about the campaign that's been shared in months. "Halo has always been about heroism, hope, and the Master Chief, Spartan-117," reads Halo Waypoint's post about the campaign in part. In Halo Infinite, Chief is facing the toughest enemies he's ever faced, in the most expansive, awe-inspiring Halo story ever told. “
According to the new campaign overview trailer, Halo Infinite features the franchise's biggest campaign to date and sees the Master Chief tasked with recovering an AI called "The Weapon" after the events of Halo 5: Guardians. The story seems to revolve around exactly what happened to Cortana, and the Master Chief looks to Zeta Halo to find out as he fights the Banished. You can check out the new trailer below:
Overview on Halo Infinite
The campaign overview states that the Master Chief will have more freedom than ever to take down the Banished in any way players choose. This seems to be confirmed in less linear maps and upgradable abilities. It also showcases new enemies like Skimmers and the so-called “sadistic Spartan assassin” Jega 'Rdomnai, as well as the Harbinger of Truth.
It's hard to say how this all plays out in the trailer alone, but it certainly looks more in line with competitors' modern video game campaigns than the Halo franchise campaigns of the past.
As noted above, Halo Infinite is set to release for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC on December 8th. This year's Halo Infinite release is being compatible with a Halo Infinite controller, a custom Halo Infinite Xbox Series X console, and Xbox even partnered with Rockstar Energy for Halo Infinite cans and rewards.
