It is not today that the Facebook WhatsApp has been ending support for devices that no longer receive updates, that is, old versions of both Android and iOS (iPhone). Recently this happened, for example, with old Windows Phone devices, where the application not only stopped receiving updates, but also stopped working completely.
The announcement about the discontinuation of the application in old models was made by the company this Thursday (09). According to her, WhatsApp will work on these smartphones until the 31st of October, ending on the 1st of November.

What devices will WhatsApp stop working on?
There is no specific list for which devices the application will stop working on, but which operating system. That are:
iOS: in Apple's operating system, present on the iPhone, WhatsApp will stop working on devices with iOS 10 (released in 2016) and earlier.
android: in the operating system developed by Google, and present in the overwhelming majority of smartphones today, WhatsApp will no longer work for systems of the Android 4.1 and earlier.
How to find out if your Smartphone will say “Goodbye” to WhatsApp
If you have an old cell phone, but you have no idea what version of your operating system is, don't worry, follow the steps below, both for Android and iOS devices. Through it, you will check your operating system, in case it is the ones listed (iOS 10 / Android 4.1). You will have to switch devices to continue using WhatsApp. If it goes above, you can rest easy, at least for now.
android
Step 1. Access your device's settings, usually just go down the notification bar and look for a gear icon. But on some devices, the gear icon is next to the apps, so just find and tap on it.
Step2. Scroll down to the bottom of the options, and look for “About Phone” or “About the Device“. The names may vary from device to device, but overall the paths and names are similar.
After clicking on the device, information regarding your smartphone will be shown, including your Android version.
iOS
Step 1. Among us "Settings“, and navigate between the options looking for “On“".
Step 2. After clicking About, then information about your device will be shown, the software version which is the iOS version.
