Fire breaks out in Beirut at the same location as last month's mega explosion.
The fire broke out in a warehouse where engine oil and car wheels are stored, the Lebanese army said in a statement. However, the port's interim director, Bassem al-Kaissi, told local television that the fire "started in the oil drums, before spreading to the tyres".
"Maybe it was because of the heat, maybe it was a mistake, although it's too early to know," said Kaissi, speculating about the possible causes of the fire. Trucks from the Civil Defense services were sent to the fire site, and the Army deployed helicopters to try to contain the flames.
